Born-and-bred New Yorker, Meg Wachs is an interdisciplinary artist focusing on a studio practice that hybridizes painting and jewelry. She received her BFA in Metals from the State University of New York at New Paltz in 2012 and her MFA in Craft & Material Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2018. Using technical skill in metal and material exploration of craft, Meg creates adornment that walks the line between fine art and handcraft. She is constantly balancing her time between her easel and her jeweler’s bench, while making work that includes both.

Drawn to jewelry because of its tactile intimacy, Meg is influenced by ideas of color psychology and making adornment from the perspective of a costume designer; that everything a person wears contributes to the visual cues of the wearer’s personality.
